  • If you drop a pair of scissors you should tread on them gently before picking them up to avoid arguments.
  • Hanging your scissors on a nail or hook brings good luck.
  • If someone gives you a pair of scissors, give them a coin in return.

Just to make all forum posters aware, the moderators of these forums strongly encourage the discourse of the posted topic, and whilst the moderators are not against interactive postings, they will not tolerate posts that are essentially personal conversation and are off topic.

A continuance of this practice WILL result in person(s) being excluded from the forums.

If there is something you would like to talk about that is off topic start a new topic. If you don't now how to do this, ask!

On a more positive note, the lions share of postings that are being put on are fantastic and are an interesting read.

I do not believe in giving someone a coin every time someone passed me scissors. I'd be out of money every day in art class.

My family has always held true to the rule that any Knife that is unsheathed or flipped open(like a gator-grip, or swiss army kife..)by you must be closed by you alone.
Also, a knife, or other metal blade placed under the mattress, or your pillow, helps to ward off domestic demons

it is said if you drop a pair of scissors it is an omen of death to come.
the person who dropped them should not be the one to pick them up, they should have a freind do it.
they should also be warmed between the hands before being used again.

open scissors in the form of a cross placed under a doormat it said to ward off evil spirits

in africa it is known that if a pair of scissors are opened or closed during a wedding the groom will become impotent

weep no more for me,
my time has passed.
My soul has gone to its final resting place,
For now I am free.
