Forensic medicine is the branch of medicine which investigates any suspicious deaths. It helps the police to work out how the person died, and exactly when the death took place. Even if the cause of a person’s death seems obvious, forensic scientists look carefully at the body because there may be other, hidden injuries that are not obvious at first. The body of a dead person is taken from the scene of the crime to a pathology laboratory for examination.

when it comes to forensic psychology, and profiling, being able to observe the crime scene, body still where it fell (or whatever), is sometimes crucial to finding a way into the mind of the perp. The clues lie with the dead for sure, but also very much with the crime scene itself. The perp leaves a signature behind. somewhere in the bloody chaos, there is a key, a clue, if only we can see the forest for the trees.

And it is a very complex topic. Some wish to hide the crime, some wish to add signature to the point of being caught. Some are too caught in a whirl to think of the difference. Some play a game. Some premeditate end-lessly....uh.....
As I said before, police most fear the ones who are smarter than them, and also random killings lacking motive, reason, or evidence.

Sherlock Holmes once said something to the effect that the most random and unremarkable of crimes are usually the most difficult to solve. Those with unusual qualities or unusual components, nonsensical and puzzling though they may seem, leave the observer with more to work with deductively. The more bizzare a crime is, the easier it becomes to narrow down motive, suspect, etc... The more mundane, boring, and unremarkable a crime appears to be, the deeper one must look in order to find the one thing that makes that action so intrinsically special and distinct. What may at first seem to be a simple bow, may unravel itself into the most complex web of knots and threads. A huge mess of tangled evidence and motive, all wrapped up in the neatest of brown paper packages. The most complicated thing in the world is sometimes simplicity.....
