- If a cat washes it's face and paws more than three times you can expect company.
- Black cats bring luck, grey cats even more luck but white cats bring sickness.
- Some people believe that if a cat follows you you can expect some money soon.
- If a black cat crosses your path it is said to bring bad luck - yet there are ways to counteract this, one is to go home and start out again; another is to take 12 steps backwards!

cats bestow good luck on newly weds if they appear next to the bride, but must be caught and killed if they jump over a coffin, as this is thought to put in peril the soul of the deceased.
if you kill a cat you will sacrifice your soul to the devil,
the kicking of a cat lays one open to rheumatism.

Do you shiver when a black cat crosses your path?
This belief goes back to the Middle Ages when it was thought that a black cat
was the companion or mascot of a group of witches, and that it changed into a
witch or Satan after seven years of service. Therefore, people reasoned, a cat
crossing one's path might be a witch or the Devil in disguise, up to no
good.
The belief that cats have nine lives comes from the ancient Egyptians. The
Egyptians worshiped cats and noticed how the cats had a way of surviving many
falls. From this they started believing cats to have more than one life. Cats
became associated with the Trinity, their symbol of Mother, Father and Son.
Three times three, or nine was the highest expression of honor which could be
granted, so cats were thought to have nine lives.
If a cat sneezes once it means rain, three times and it's colds for
everyone....if you kick a cat you'll get rheumatism!
Rub warts with a cat's tail to cure them but it has to be in May!
