Chase always had a thing for blood!!! He is one of the few sadists in their truest form. Even as a child he loved setting fires and tormenting animals. By the time Chase was 10, he had killed a cat.
In his teenage years he got onto drugs and started to have girlfriends. He had trouble pleasing them however and felt horrible about it so he saw a psychiatrist. He told Chase it was repressed anger and that he may also be mentally ill. Chase was not committed however. He moved in with roommates that called him weird. Chase would nail his cupboard closed due to "people being in there"
He refused to admit there was anything wrong with him. In his adulthood he demaned to know who stole his artery. He would say odd things like his stomach was backwards or bones were coming out of his head. Another psychiatrist diagnosed him paranoid schizophrenic. He was committe to hospital but eventually released.
He moved in with his mother and took a lot of drugs. He eventually was kicked out and got a place of his own. He was soon buying and killing rabbits, eating them raw. He would sometimes buy animal parts off the butcher, blend them and drink it raw. He injected rabbits blood into himself once and got extremely ill.
He was eventually committed again and attempted to be treated for his dellusions and behaviour. He escaped but was returned and earned the name Dracula after being found with blood around his mouth. 2 birds were on his window sill, necks broken and teeth marks in them.
He was eventually released again and mum payed his rent and bought his food. He moved again however and started to kill animals again. He drank their blood. He stole pets and tortured them, then he would call the families of the missing pets and describe what he did to them. He then bought guns and began to play with them. His mother once reported seeing her son tear open a dead cat and devour its insides. She said this later, but did not act on it at the time.
Police found his car once in a suspicious place. They looked inside to find blood all over it and grew worried. They found a liver in a bucket. They found Chase eventually, naked in the trees, and he was covered in blood also. The liver was infact found to be a cows.
The Hillside strangler was killing not too far away and Chase read of the killings and soon became a fan. He grew bolder and was starting to think about people for his blood baths.
1977 was the first. A man and his wife were doing their shopping when the man suddenly fell to the ground and wouldnt get up. The woman thought it was a heart attack but later learnt it was an odd, random, drive by shooting. Another young man came forward and said a man had shot at him too. He described the car but it led nowhere. Another woman also reported shootings and in her wall was the same bullets used at the other shootings. It proved to be the same person but all leads died after that.
The neighbourhood was starting to fear him a little. He felt no guilt. He stole, tried to get into peoples houses, yelled at people for no reason and even walked into peoples backyards without any shame at all. He robbed a house and urinated on some babies clothes, then did his business on the babies bed. Police were too late to catch him. While Chase was walking away from that house, he walked into another only a block or so away.
Chase just tried door after door until he found a house door unlocked. Then he strolled right on in. A 22 year old woman was inside. 3 months pregnant at that. He shot her twice and then shot her agian when she was down. He dragged her body into the lounge and drained her of blood by cutting her. He had pulled out some of her major organs and left them beside the body. Her husband found the mess and was never the same again. A yoghurt container was found with blood still in it (his drinking cup) and it was obvious from the splashing of blood everywhere that Chase had decorated himself and his body in it.
2 puppies were found dead and mutilated nearby to the house... it probably happened on the same day. Like killing someone wasnt enough, he still had to do it again.
The next victim was only 6. He was found at his friends house, shot. When police entered the house they found him first, then went to the bathroom and found a bathtub full of blood. The mother of the friend was in the bedroom, she was in very similar shape the the last lady he killed (I will spare you the details). There was also rings on the floor like a container that he must have drank out of. The little boys friend was found next to the woman, shot in the head, he too, was only 6.
Chase left a shoe print behind and many witnesses. He was the local weirdo but not one was ready to click quite yet. I will once agian spare you the details but a baby was also killed on the premises that day, it was so horrid I cried while reading it, let alone to share with you guys here in this post.
Police were moving in now, gathering evidence as Chase was still free. Chase took the victims car and it was found dumped nearby, little did they know just how close to Chase's house, that car actually was.
FBI moved in quickly and wrote up a profile. " They figured him for a disorganized killer as opposed to an organized one, with some clues pointing toward the possibility of psychosis. He clearly had not planned these crimes and did little to hide or destroy evidence. He left footprints and fingerprints, and had probably walked around in daylight with blood on his clothing. In other words, he gave little thought to the consequences. At the very least, his domicile would be as sloppy as the places he ransacked after he was finished with them, and the fact that the murder scenes were fairly close together meant he might not have a car. In fact, he’d taken a car from one house, so he must have walked to that one at least. That meant it was likely that he lived in the vicinity of the crimes. It was also likely that he would kill again, and keep on killing until he was caught. They had to work fast." (Thanks to Crimelibrary.com - the only source of crime stories on the net worth reading!)
People were questioned and witnesses came in. A sketch was drawn and put up in places of need. Chase was still out there though but stories came in. One from a lady that was approached by a man that asked "Were you on the motorcyle when Kurt was killed?" the woman gasped, she recognised him as an old school friend who knew her and Kurt before he died. She climbed in her car and drove off quickly, the man freaked her out. He looked NOTHING like he used to.
The found a man wearing similar pants to what a witness described and found an owner of the gun being fired at the crime. Police had a name and an address. The found he lived nearby and with a background check, found he matched the profile of mental illness and other leads.
Police knocked on Chases door but no one answered. They pretended to leave and Chase came out shortly later. The police got him with a struggle. They tried to get him to confess but he only admitted to killing dogs. He was put under arrest when they found belongings of the victims in his pockets and house, what they also found in the house was just unspeakable. Blood was on every wall, bones in the kitchen, body parts in the fridge, newspapers found with circles on people selling dogs, animal collars everywhere but no animals and blenders, kitchen utensils and clothes, soaked in body parts and blood. Thank God Chase was in custody.
Evidence was easy, the victims blood was on everything. Chase on the other hand had a huge fear in giving blood for testing and this task proved to be very difficult.
After a long trial, and even though this man is clearly insane, he was sentenced to the gas chamber. While in death row, people have learnt much from him and books have been written. It is said that other jail mates hate him and taunt him to kill himself so they dont have to be around him. He is however, still rotting in jail until his day comes along where he will be put to sleep perminantly.
