it is believed that the soulsof suicides will know no rest and they are condemned to raom the earth forever.
to keep the ghost of the suicide from returning to their home in early years they were buried at CROSSROADS and never in holy ground. the reason forthis is to confuse the spirit.
other burial rite were to have the corpse placed under running water or be driven to the ground by stakes thru the corpse.
it is also said if a pregnant women walks over the the grave of a sucicide she is doomed to miscarry the child.
weep no more for me, my time has passed. My soul has gone to its final resting place, For now I am free.

To me, this makes perfect sense. I believe suicide cuts your life sentence short.....so where coudl you possibly go if your life hasn't run its full course?
Its liek that movie with Robin Williams....the really really reall uber bizzare one....something about Wishes....

You dare assume that at the time of suicide, a life has not run its full course. Very predudice, and quite telling regarding experience. Would you care to rephrase that in "politically correct" terms? Do you think a "n*#%er" who kills himself whilst loaded on crack, is any different than my wife who did the same after 2 years with a wasting disese? Where do you draw your lines? I mean no dissing, merely a polite inquiry. I am cold, just interested in the thought process surrounding me. I take no offense at anything you may say, appreciate it. I am just intrigued, continually.

Mazeppa if your wife took her own life due to illness, I am sorry for her pain and yours. this is just a superstition area we are not saying they are true only this is what was known years ago. do I beleive that if people die before their time they walk the earth untill their business is finished Yes I do. reguardless if it is by murder or suicide.
secondly the word "n*#%er" i really don't care for the way you may have used it. the word means ignorant. I am sorry if I think you are using it n the other term.

What I say is clearly my own continually changing interpretation of life in order to attempt to gain a small understanding of many things surrounding my day to day breathing habits. I am sorry for the loss of your wife. I can imagine the attachment was strong. OK, whilst pondering the statement I previously made, I failed to take in the point of Euthenasia.
I am a firm beliver in euthenasia. If you have a wasting disease, are born a vegetable or basically have a serious illness robbing you of the simple daily pleasures of tasting, touching, feeling, seeing, feeding yourself, dressing yourself, going to the toilet unaided etc...I believe you should have the right to end your life. To me, your life has already been ended, because you are not functioning in the proper manner; you are suffering. So you should be allowed to bail (Robert FYI = euthenasia is banned over here) But, if you end your life because you're too slack to make it work, or want attention, or want to make others suffer - THEN you have cut your OWN life short and therefore will not rest because your life was not carried out in full. Hmmm, I guess I do belive in fate then.......... Yeah I do. I dont think everything happens for a reason, but I do believe we are here to live out the givfen years we will have, providing we do not end that life sentence short.
Does that clear anything up Robert or should we continue this post in the Philosophy section and should I have a few drinks, roll up some cigarettes and get Philosophical?

Excellent points, all. And well-absorbed!
Name a crime which is punishable by law if attempted, yet unpunishable by law if sucessful......
Oh, and Icehearts joke reminds me of another Confucious saying:
"Man with hand in pocket, feel mighty cocky."
The supersticious topic is very interesting here, and superstitions of so many sorts abound. I generally dismiss them, for my own life, but realize that things believed in can often become quite real.

mazeppa, i think you've got me wrong, not only do i think you are right on the thread topic, but you have added a very pertenant point.
I would strongly encourage any poster who can add a personal point of view or a reason why they are interested to a thread to do so. This is what makes thrads so interesting. Most of the initial postings are just seeds.
Not that you need any rubbing on your tummy, but, well done.

I have the unfortunate job (at times) through my career choice to have to visit old age care homes. Not only are these places pull of empty vessels who don't have a clue who or where they are, but also there are a lot of people who are arching on beds in constant pain with no respite.
Most of these people would have died long ago if not for extreme medical intervention. It is easy to condemn taking ones own life, but is it any better to torture these poor souls by extending a life that not only has no quality of life but worse still a negative quality?

Empty vessels who don't have a clue where or who they are.... that sounds a lot like the ghost of a suicide! Some say the spirits have unfinished business, does someone alive in the old folks home have the same?
Sorry to bust on you Kanjo, it is all in humorous vein, I hope you realize. I tip my glass to.....Frog Anatomy!

I could not agree more Kanjo. It is no better to torture souls who thru the natural course of life should have passed over long ago, than to end your own because its too hard to deal with. If the quality of life is gone, how can the soul be truly happy and content. To me, the soul is what makes us shine.....how can you shine when the sun has gone out?
Heaven bent to take my hand, and lead me through the fire. Be the long awaited answer, to a long and painful fight. |

Heehee, I won't object to that!
I remembered that movie with Robin Williams I mentioned in one on my speils about suicide and shit.......might not have been this one, cant be fucked looking.
The movie is called What Dreams May Come - 1998. Its absolutely brilliant. Doctor Chris Nielson (Robin Williams) meets his true soul mate Annie (Annabella Sciorra), marries her and has two children. The children die in a car accident, and Chris dies four years after that. Ending up in heaven, he is guided by friendly guardian angel Albert (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) through the afterlife, and he is reunited with his dog and children. But when he finds out his wife had committed suicide, he desperately searches for her spirit, journeying through Heaven and Hell along the way.
Get it, watch it a few times...it'll fuck with your mind but shit its good.
Dear Darla. I hate your stinking guts. You make me vomit. You're scuuuumm between my toes. Love Alfalfa.

Death comes in it's own time. Those of us left behind may be quite sure that we have been jipped. That fate, cowardice, cruelty, injustice, etc, has taken from us what we love before it's time. How arrogant to assume that we can ever bbegin to fathom the grand picture of life and growth and experience. If it happened, then it was time. It does not matter if suicide, homicide, freak accident, or act of god takes the life of a loved one. The fact that that life(as we knew it) is no more, speaks for itself. Some are destined to outlive thier own grandchildren, some to tie thier own noose... Things just are. To try and quantify, or define the validity of any lessons learned over any number of lifetimes is not only futile, but self-defeating.

True, Lady Bloodsfire. If I were to....weep over every seedling in my forest which did not achieve tree-dom, I would dry up and blow away. Odd, is'nt it, how we are blessed or cursed to be.....dancing a fine line between sensitivity, and utter coldness? Both have their moments. We just have to judge the occurance properly. Oooops, shit, my feminine is glaring again.....Damn those hermaphroditic trees!
