These photos were taken by an anonymous resident of Florida, USA and submitted to the local Police along with a letter stating the creature in these pictures stood approx six and a half to seven feet tall in a kneeling position and had an awful smell that lasted long after it left the yard.
The creature left the backyard after the second photo was taken.
The person that took the photographs thought it may have been an orangutan escaped from somewhere nearby and felt they had to report this to the police before the big guy hurt someone.
Similar to the Bigfoot legend there are several documented reports from people that lived along the east-central coast of Florida who claim encounters with apelike animals, especially during the 1963-1968 period.
These photos were taken sometime in 2000 and I've searched around trying to find more recent information on this and have only come up with several sites with the same two pictures above.
Awfully good picture. it does look like an orangutan except for the coloring, it's got to much black.
We have a Similar creature in our area, down around a place called Boggie creek. The creature has been called the skunk ape also. Maybe they're Mates you think?
