I'm new to the axolotl thing, just got my new boy two days ago.
In the evening he swims laps of his tank and hits the sides.
Is this normal? Can he hurt himself doing this?
His tank is about 50cm x 25cm x 30cm.

hi, my Salsa does this too, I only got her about 2 days ago aswell and she will float to the top and the bump into the glass all over the sides of the tank. It's like they are looking at themselves and thinking that maybe there is another axi there. I know it seems distressing, but I think it's just them getting used to the tank.
Does everyone get this problem??
