Posted - 16 January 2004 : 01:49:49 AM What did everyone think of this movie? I took my Mum to go see it with me, and she nearly died of a heart attack....lol
I really enjoyed it, although I hate sequels to horror movies. And especially for the fact that this particular story was based on actual events, it never has the same effect as the original.
Also. The "Leatherface" character was based on the serial killer Ed Gien right? |

- It was loosely based on Ed Gein, in that leatherface made furniture, and masks out of dead bodies, robbed graves, & lived in a rural communiy. Thats about where the similarities end.
- I loved the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre Franklin was funny as hell! The hitchhiker, the Cook, and Grampa all kicked ass. In the original Leatherface(Gunnar Hansen) never let anyone see him till there respective death scenes. So there looks of shock and terror are real. Like when the first guy stumbles into the doorway and looks up to see a 6'4" 300lb man wearing a skin mask & butchers smock.
- I had to go see the remake the first day it opened. I was wearing my skeleton bone parka, and Lynyrd Skynyrd trucker hat. So the woman at the ticket booth didn't even have to ask what movie I wanted to see. It was pretty cool how the kids where on their way to see a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert.

Posted - 11 July 2004 : 6:52:04 PM This movie was based on a true story... in no other way was it real...
The documentary and interviews that are viewed at the beginning and end of the movie are all actors playing a part....

Posted - 15 May 2004 : 12:40:28 PM Shy and I caught this on DVD last week.
Couldn't help but squirm in my seat when they were placing the hapless teens on meat hooks - dam that looked painful !
Oh, and yeah, we really enjoyed watching this singlet run around sweaty, wet and screaming for 90 minutes too !
Other than that it wasn't all that inspiring. I can't remember much about the original...might have to watch that again. I got bored when she was hiding in the caravan with the inbred hillfolk as that whole thing as been done to death.

Posted - 18 March 2004 : 6:47:21 PM R. Lee Ermey's character was hilarious, it was a good movie, but like always, not like the original.
It does far surpass the sequals that turn Leatherface into a fruitcake though.
