This was the best overview of Satanism I came across thru all my searchings to understand this religion. From here, Satamism is divided into different practices....

There are several types of Satanic belief systems. The most common is Philosophical Satanism, wherein Satan is not believed to actually exist, but is seen as a sort of mascot for personal liberty. Most modern Satanic groups, especially the COS (Church of Satan), fall into this category. (It should be noted that some prefer to place this and similar groups under the label of "religious" Satanism due to their ritual practices) Satan is not viewed as a living entity, but as an ideal. Much of the thought behind this particular belief system is in opposition to Judeo-Christian ideals that are seen as weak or ineffectual. In philosophical Satanism, the emphasis is on individuation, personal growth and human potential. There are no pacts, sacrifices, or criminal behaviors accepted or encouraged, altohugh some do intentionally cultivate a 'spooky' or intimidating image. This type of belief is likely to be embraced by people who feel powerless in their every day lives, but this is not neccessarily true of the majority. In Satanic ritual magick, Satan embodies the principal of Set- the destruction of the ego neccessary for spiritual rebirth.

Traditional, or religious Satanism, is less common. Religious Satanism does involve a belief in Satan as a deity, although not neccessarily an evil or oppositional one. In fact, the majority view Satan as a Promethian or Gnostic deity - a liberator, or one who encourages mankind to rebel against its state of imprisonment. In many of these traditions, the Biblical Yahweh is seen as an evil tyrant, an oppressive and cruel deity - which correlates with similar Gnostic beliefs. Many more traditions do not specifically acknowledge the Judeo-Christian pantheon, but venerate the Egyptian Set. Religious Satanists are no more or less moral or likely to commit crimes than other religious groups, and religious Satanists do not make sacrifices or practice "black magic."

A much smaller percentage of the "Satanic" population are what is most often referred to as 'Dabbling.' Satanic dabblers are usually among the disaffected members of the population (prisonars, troubled teens, etc.), people who feel extremely powerless or have a need or desire to control or outrage others. They often commit minor crimes and very rarely larger ones. They may attempt to perform spells or curses against others, or even attempt what they view as 'traditional' Satanic activities- sacrifices, pacts, etc. Most have no group affiliations, or even contact with other believers; their beliefs/practices usually gleaned from books or even rumours. Dabblers are often obvious by their appearance and generally do not 'blend in' with society at large. This is usually not an issue of genuine Satanism, but a symptom of antisocial tendencies, even a cry for help.

By dying, didn't he already gain that forgivness for us

Stupid religion.

Black Mass Satanism:

This is the ultimate rite for a real Satanist to obtain magic powers: A blasphemous Mass, where the altar is a nude woman, and the vagina is the tabernacle. If possible, a real Host stolen from a Catholic Church is placed in the vagina in the midst of reciting distorted psalms with hot music and all kind of obscenities, coursing Jesus and honoring Satan. The fake priest ends up having real sex, with the Host still in the vagina.
If a baby can be slaughtered during the ritual, they will drink his blood and eat his flesh, to mimic the most the Eucharist...
Ideally, a Black Mass is to be celebrated by a "real heretic Priest", that, even in sin, can celebrate Mass effectively.
The prayers end with the strongest expression of Satanism: "Shemhaforash", the word pronounced by God when he created the World, and, while spitting on a cross or stepping on it, they all cry out "Hail, Satan".
And, of course, it may end up with a sexual orgy with all kind of abominations and abuses, under the influence of drugs

i wanna react on this one... let me ask you... for example, someone else asked you to forgive me for the offense that i have made to you. and then, i have done another offense to you... is the apology that that someone has asked you in my behalf still effective?

my point is, we sin everyday.. it is hypocrisy to say that you do not sin... we need to ask forgiveness over and over again... thru leading a good and honest life, we show how much we are sorry for our sins and of course, to show God that we are worthy to be heirs of eternal life... for earthly life is just temporary...

about the bible reading thing, it is like reading your loved one's love letter over and over again without making you bored. bible is like a love letter to all of us... the bible is the testimony on how God really loves us [no matter how ungrateful we are]...

worshipping God... God is the most supreme entity in the whole universe, not Satan [Satan was Lucifer before and Lucifer was an angel and angels are created by God] or anything else in the world or universe [God created the entire universe]... so, we humans should worship Him because he deserves that.

going to mass... is like attending a banquet minus the perishable food... for the food we get from the mass is spiritual food...

it's just that you do not fully understand the essence of reading the bible, going to mass, and such things... we need to have some drinks and have a long talk about this matter....

about the black mass, it is really blasphemous and those participating in such will burn into Hell... Satan is the prince of deceptions... never let him fool you...

The pentagram, or five-pointed star, may be the most misunderstood religious symbol around these days. Being the most common symbol of Neo-Pagan Witchcraft, it has nevertheless been denigrated by movie and publishing industries which seem 'hell-bent' on connecting it with Satanism and other malevolent practices. However, like the Roman Cross or Crucifix, it is only when the symbol is INVERTED that it alludes to negativity. And even then, there are exceptions.

In its usual upright position (one point uppermost), the pentagram is an ancient symbol of protection from evil. Also called 'the endless knot' (in its interlaced form), the pentagram was often displayed on doors, windows, and hearths of houses throughout pre-Christian Europe. It can be traced back to Egyptian and Sumerian cultures, and has even been found on Native American medicine tools. Sometimes mistakenly confused with the Star of David, or hexagram (a six-pointed star emblematic of Judaism), the pentagram is sometimes called the Star of Solomon, especially by ceremonial magicians.

To many, the lower four points represent the classical elements of earth, air, fire, and water, while the fifth point, surmounting the others, represents spirit, the fifth element or quintessence. Thus, the pentagram symbolizes the four elements of the material world connected with, but ruled by, the spirit. When the pentagram is placed within a circle (symbol of unity and wholeness), it stresses our connection with the universe as a whole.

Another interpretation is that there is not one point upward -- but three! In numerology, three is the number of harmony, best expressed in the classical formula: thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. In other words, it is the middle point that harmonizes the opposing outer points. The Celtic love of triads (the most common form of their 'wisdom literature') has its roots in this model. The upper three points are thus placed above the lower two points, which represents dualistic opposites that cannot be integrated or harmonized (seeing everything in black and white).

Yet another interpretation of the upright pentagram is that it symbolizes the most common view of deity in Witchcraft. The upper three points represent the Goddess in her threefold aspect of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. The lower two points represent her consort God, in his twin aspects of God of Light and God of Darkness. However, in all these interpretations, it is important to remember that all the points are connected -- each an aspect of the other, all part of the same whole.

But when the pentagram is inverted, so is its meaning. Thus, an inverted pentagram may represent the physical world (four material elements) in domination of the world of spirit (the fifth element). (This may be why Satanists and other 'demonistic' groups use this symbol.) With two points uppermost, it may also express a Neo-Platonic dualism (the old 'war in heaven', good vs. evil theme) -- as opposed to the Pagan monistic view of reality ('the Force') seen in the single point upward. The most common exception to this rule is that some traditions of Witchcraft (chiefly British) employ the inverted pentagram as a POSITIVE symbol of advanced degree. In this case, the two points uppermost represent the horns of light, symbol of 'the Horned God', consort to the Great Goddess (like the Greek god Pan).

The word 'pentacle', sometimes mistakenly substituted for pentagram, really refers to a shallow dish (usually inscribed with a pentagram) and used as an altar tool by modern Witches, serving a purpose similar to the 'patten' at a Roman Catholic Mass. Common variations of this tool include a dish of earth, a disk of copper, a dish of silver, or a disk of wax.

The suit of pentacles (or 'coins') in the Tarot deck, the Stone of Fal (coronation stone of kings) in ancient Ireland, the sangreal of the Holy Grail processions, and the 'Universal Man' of Leonardo da Vinci, are all related to the pentagram, stressing its ties to the earth and nature, making it a symbol par excellence of an earth or nature religion. The five points also represent the five physical senses and allude to approaching the spiritual realm THROUGH the sensual -- in fact, the meaning of the Ace of Pentacles in Tarot. In numerology, 5 is the number of sexuality, combining the feminine 2 with the masculine 3. Thus, the pentagram also represents the opposite of asceticism.

But wherever the pentagram is displayed, one message is clear: evil has no power there.

so is there not a satanism where satan is purely worshipped as an evil deity and its followers actually commit to doing evil and blasphemy?

The Pentagram is viewed as an amulet and a symbol for protection.
The five points on the Pentagram represent each of the five elements
Earth -represents stability and physical endurance.(Bottom lower left point
Fire -represents courage and daring (Bottom right point).
Air- Represents Intelligance and the arts( Upper left point).
Water - represents emotions and intuition (Upper right point)
Spirit represents the all Divine. (Top point). With a womb shape in the centre. The Pentagram is an ancient symbol of protection, health, and balance. It has been found inscribed on ceramic jars that were used for grain storage in ancient Sumer, and in many other cultures all over the World. It has been used by the Kabalists and Celts, Egyptians, Christians, and Gypsies. When the Single point is down, it shows one of two things. In some branches of the Craft, it can depict the Horned God's head, and represent the second degree of initiation into the Craft. But unfortunately, this form is also
used by some Satanic-groups just as they might use a broken or inverted cross-to represent Spirit in subjection to the material world.

the pentagram can also be representative of humanity. with the top point being the head, and the other points being the limbs of man, and the outer circle being the earth / universe.

Caacrinolaas (aka Caassimolar, Glassia-labolas) is a high president of hell who commands 36 legions. He appears as a dog with griffin wings. He teaches liberal arts, inspires murder, makes men invisible, and predicts the future. In the Great Grimoire, he is called Classyalabolas, a sergeant sometimes mounted to Nebiros or Naberus.

I was thinking about "Witches, Warlocks, Medicine Men/Women, Oracles", etc.
Strange isn't it that over history, there are many many accounts of men and women of all sorts and origins seeking the help of those gifted with 'powers' which other mortals do not posess. Great Kings, Emporers, and Conquers have all enlisted the help and guidance of those with "spiritual insight".
However, there are also innumerable accounts of men receiving responses to thier questions which were not exactly what they wanted to hear.
The fortune teller didn't tell the fortune which was hoped for, and was persecuted for his/her incorrect awnsers.
At other times, a man or woman posessing powers which seemed threatening or just plain unnatural to his/her neighbors, were hunted and persecuted, if not executed.
Lovely how humanity is able to decide when and how ones spiritual growth may be utilized or villianized, based upon the small scope of politics and power plays.
This extends even to "prophets" who have proclaimed knowledge or insight which is deemed 'dangerous'. How long do these gifted ones manage to stick around? 32 years or so?
Dangerous thing to be on the path of illumination.
The labels of Satanism, Witchcraft, and Voodoo, allow the population at large to rest easier at night, knwing they are washed in the blood of christ(blood being a vital ingredient in amost magical traditions).
How nice for them....

Why are symbols even used in worship?
Black magik and Satanism are spoken of being compliumentary to each other....perhaps tha tis why they are used in both studies.
What does the Anhk and Pentagram mean in Wicca Jukama?

To have light, One must have darkness. The balance in nature must be maintained. We as creatures all have the dark and light within us . All are capable of good or evil as the occasion moves us.

seduce my mind and you can have my body, find my soul and I am yours forever

darkness is not something to 'become', it is what we all are in part. I was glancing through my newspaper and noticed all the announcements in the 'Faith&Values;' section.
I wondered if I could place an ad for Satanic Mass, and see how that would go over. I'll bet my invitation would never be placed next to a 'good' ad for the Baptist church, or even placed at all.

I swear, they keep smothering us safely to sleep while we snooze, safe in our beds, never missing our 'Prostitutional' Rights until it's waaayyyy too late.

Has anyone ever noticed how listening to some artists, particularly those who focus on darkness, makes you want to study up and commit yourself to a religion and become all dark like they are?
