he looks in great condition so dont stress
from what i can see he has plenty of bright red veins running through his feathers (gills)
but at leaset you didnt over react to the first thing you read, by treating him to a variety of treatments ..... YOU ASKED FIRST
you will make a fine Mother !!!!
Keep Up the good work .

pH is about about 6.5, temperature 19C, ammonia less than .25mg/L, no tankmates, no missing limbs and no skin conditions. He's perfectly healthy and still moving around (though less than normal for him) and eating fine, but is just scarily pale. I'm feeding him daily either tubifex worm pellets or frozen cubes of beef.
I can't think of what else to try! |

Posted - 28 May 2004 : 9:10:22 PM first of all check the basic's ect......
1, axy condition : Color, skin problems, missing limbs ect.... 2, water condition : PH and ammonia levels water temp 3, Tank Mates (if any): there general health if same them you have a community sickness 4, food : what type and how much they r eating (remember live is best)
so look at ya axy, test ya water (get a ph kit), if thats all fine try a change in diet

P.S is it a female or male ????

My Juju's gills have been getting paler for about a week now - I didn't think it was good, but can't figure out what's causing it! Any suggestions? |

raise the temp
axy's heal faster in low temp water
thats why when they are real sick you put them in a small tank in the fridge

Posted - 27 May 2004 : 02:33:57 AM About the only thing you can do is wait.
It sounds to me like she is in some distress, bit short of taking her to the vet, i dont know what to suggest... you could turn up the temperature a little to speed up her metabolism, but its a bit too risky if she is already in such a state.
dont try to feed her for a few days, wait until she is looking a bit less full of chicken! |

Posted - 25 May 2004 : 10:36:35 PM Simple Too BIG.....
This is common She will eat again .... Shes just Full
just use small bits it may take longer to feed but is easyer for her to eat
you could also try some Lean beef ..... NO Grissle ect....
even Ox Heart get it from ya butcher ask him to cut it up into thin strips this way you can freeze most of it and easyer for you to cut up into small bits to feed her......
or Meal Worms ..... nice and cheap
