Plants For Shy

Elodea

Specs

"Elodea/Egeria (anachris)
Prefers low temperature (50-77F) tanks, somewhat alkaline pH. Translucent green whorled leaves. Good goldfish food and tank oxygenator. Can be kept free-floating or rooted. Nice beginner plant."

(50 degrees Fahrenheit = 10 degrees Celsius)
(77 degrees Fahrenheit = 25 degrees Celsius)

it say's they need fertilization but i never have since i have had these plant's (4yrs)
the other good thing is that if you have gold fish they will also eat it and its good for them

Hope this helps .......

The plant looks like Elodea. its dirt cheap and should be available at any pet store. its about $5.50 for 10 or so strands and its grows like buggery. Really easy to propogate from cuttings. Goldfish love the stuff.

Spawn, can you tell me what those plants are in this picture? We have had endless trouble with keeping plants in our tanks alive because of the low temperatures and very few pet stores cater to plants for colder tanks. Or any suggestions on which type of plants to put in with the fella's? (Please don't say cold water plants.. that would just be... disappointing )

Also.. I have to agree with Buck... for that price, you stole it!

Very nice - I don't think I've ever seen one that colour before.

Lovely gills too - you didn't buy it for $4 - you stole it !
