An ornamental skull Buck!?!? -- Thats a tad unexciting... now a real skull... a real skull would have been newsworthy!

i havent tried it as of yet, but i have heard of it being used quite extensively in cichlid tank backgrounds.

Perhaps there is a specific type that doesn't leach? a marine brand perhaps? I'll do some more digging.

in the meantime, silicone would work ok, but its mighty messy!

Is two part epoxy safe for the fishies? I know little about this, but was told a long time ago by a friend who had fish tanks, that you have to be very careful about what types of decorum you introduce into their environment, things eeek out of resin compounds into the water. Of course you cannot ASK a fishy if he is feeling healthy after you put a resin coated skull in his/her abode......so some research might be a good idea. I only mention this because a guy named "Crazy Tom" (his real name) put a fiberglass resin (that is what epoxy is) casting in his tank and two days later all the fishys were dead.....EGADS!! I have seen the Mexican walking fish, think they are simply AWESOME, have seen them crossing the road down in Mexico, would hate to see "tame" ones getting poisoned.......articles introduced into tanks is a good topic......is it for the fish or for the fish owner? Kind of like.....are tombstones for the dead or for the living? I take my dog everywhere with me, can't see taking fishes, so I don't have any.....but if I did I would have Mexican walking fish!!

A friend of mine had a hip replacement and tried to get the doc to give her her bones for her tank... no such luck i'm afraid :(

now, when you go fake, i am a big fan of the dog/tazzie devil mould. very impressive. large size is almost pittbull-like :)

What would look cool is a bunch of vertebrae, white, coated in 2 part epoxy, strung together on fishing line, each one floating... like a snaking backbone... could get the bones at petbarn i'd bet. stick an airstone under it and you would get even beter movement!

(they should float if dried and coated, so you shouldnt need extra floatation devices i dont think)
