I think you definintion of "unconditional" may be very different from many others, furthermore what about the vast majority of the worlds population that is either not christian, do not beleive in god or have their own?

A large percent of these people live happy and fruitful lives.

Would GOD or JC accept or save someone from hell who does not beleive, would this not be "unconditional?"

Another thought.... Many of these "other religions" have been around a lot longer than christianity, many do not require a leap of faith, and whilst sometimes misrepresented, only encourage a peaceful lifestyle. The real kicker is that in some of these other religions texts (which are older than the bible), you will find comment and direction that has been directly transposed into the bible.

A far simpler view... god is what we make of him/her, god is what we find within ourselves and in doing so it is the individual person that "saves themselves from the pits of hell".

Peace and may your god be with you.
