Posted - 27 January 2005 : 6:28:50 PM Hi all,
I got two axolotls for Christmas, they both looked relatively healthy and ate well. I went away for two weeks and had a friend look after them and feed them. When I came home I noticed one of them was much fatter than he was when I left. I thought nothing of it until the other night when I was laying in bed watching them and saw him eat gravel. After watching him for a while I slid my hand under him and felt his stomach and it is FULL of stones. I could feel them and there were quite a few. His appetite is normal, he doesn't eat as much as his friend, but still a decent amount. He doesn't swim to the surface, nor does he move around the bottom of the tank much... For someone who used to be fairly active I am worried that the amount of stones in his stomach is bad... Is there anything I should be doing? Is this normal? Will it pass? Please Help!

Posted - 29 January 2005 : 12:26:30 AM ok..... this is common
just remove the gravel you have and use larger gravel
as for the ones he has eaten he should shit them out
as long as he still eats he should be fine
