This is a genetic disorder that makes sunlight toxic. People with Xeroderma pigmentosum cannot repair the damage ultraviolet light does to DNA, so they develop skin cancer. It is only safe for children who have Xeroderma pigmentosum to come outside, and play after nightfall. They have been called midnight children, the children of the dark, the children of the night and, perjoratively, vampire children. I know this should go in the Freaks forum, but I thought the vampire crowd would like it.
