I thought I'd kick this topic off with something i've been curious about since Michael Hutchience's death. BY all accounts, it is the art of being able to approach the moment of death and orgasm simultaneously, either alone or with a partner, through masturbation. Has anyone out there been wired enough to try this out, or know someone who has? Is the myth of the most intense orgasm imaginable actually a reality? Is it available to women (I have never heard of women trying it)?

Greetings conan and welcome to the boards.
There must be something in this act you're enquiring about. I remember a UK MP accidently topped himself in his kitchen about 10 or so years ago. They found him dressed in suspenders and stockings with a garbage bag over his head and a slice of orange in his mouth with full ladies make up on - he'd been masturbating when he suffocated and died.
The character Mason Verger in the movie Hannibal also mentions he used to have a contraption he would swing in because "It makes it feel good when you ...y'know"

OK, here's an interesting 'fact' (ie completely unverified but from a reliable source):
Before 'the drop' was introduced in the act of hanging (ie allowing a person to fall about 2 metres and breaking their neck, ensuring instant death, rather than pulling a person up and suspending them there, alive), it used to take up to 3 minutes for the poor unfortunate soul to eventually suffocate at the end of the rope. Apparently over half of the males examined at the compulsory autopsy after the event (how fucking boring would that be...'cause of death, suffocation by hanging' on every certificate)had shown evidence of having had an orgasm (not sure about the girls, they may have faked it anyway...). Perhaps this little tidbit of information led to the dark practice of AEA...

In The League of Gentlemen is a comedy set in a small english country town - the show is now in it's third series.
One of the re-occuring characters is an old married swinging couple that run a Bed & Breakfast.
Anyway, they have this big swingers party with about 8 guests and this one guy brings along a machine he had built to perform AEA. Basically 6 or so people all plugged into this machine wearing what looked like airtight diving suits. The inventer of the machine would flick a switch cutting off their oxygen supply and then switch it back on.
He gets to about the 3rd time he flicks the switch and keels over of a heart attack before turning their air back on - the 6 people plugged into the machine unable to turn the air supply back on all died !
A very funny and very strange show. I though it was an interesting coincedence you bringing this topic up and though you might have seen the show.

There are a few cases of women dying as a result of solo erotic-breathplay documented in the book "Dark Dreams," by Roy Hazlewood. One is even a case where an African-American woman died of autoerotic asphyxsiation - apparently this was a first. It's a really good book with extensive coverage of autoerotic asphxia fatalities. I highly recommend it!

Actually, more than just a few women, and men have died as a result of loveplay gone wrong, asphyxiation being the main cause. Oh, I'm sure there are a lot more actual deaths attributed to this than are documented - that's always the case! It's not my thing though - I'd be scared of accidentally choking someone to death...
