NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted in a series of service station robberies in the Uptown area.

Four robberies have occurred at two gas stations since April 20.

According to investigators, in each case the suspect entered the business and implied he was armed and demanded cash. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash using a girl's mountain bicycle as his getaway vehicle.

Following is a list of the robberies:

April 20, Shell Station, 600 South Carrollton Ave., at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, Chevron Station, 1400 South Carrollton Ave., 12:20 p.m.

Sunday, Chevron Station, 1400 South Carrollton Ave., 10:40 a.m. (only time not seen on bike)

Monday, Shell Station, 600 South Carrollton Ave., at approximately 11:40 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black man, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and 140 to 150 pounds with a thin build, a dark complexion and a mustache. He appeared unshaven and wore a low haircut. In the most recent robbery he wore a brown flannel shirt with a quilted lining, a black and white striped shirt and gray sweatpants with black and white stripes. He also wore black and white tennis shoes.

Second District Detective Wade Bowser is in charge of the investigation.

Crimestoppers, at (504) 822-1111, is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest and indictment. Callers do not have to give their names or testify in court.
