Seeing a ghost is
probably one of the most frightening things imaginable. But to a large
extent this is the result of our cultural expectations and has little
to do with the realities of what witnesses say takes place. In fact it
can be comforting to some people if they find themselves living with a
friendly ghost.
However, paranormal research groups are quite happy these days to
offer advice to residents who may be quite literally spooked. There
will be no mumbo jumbo, and their association with you will take
whatever direction you choose. It may involve research into the
history of the property to check for any evidence of past haunting.
Mediums may need to visit the site and use their gifts to try to tune
into the phantom and understand who or what it is. Some mediums
practice what is termed psychic rescue. Their specialty is contacting
the ghost and attempting to persuade it to move on to the afterlife.
These psychics tend to believe that ghosts are trapped souls who
either do not realize they are dead or cannot bear to leave the earth
and their old home. Whether you employ such a person depends on how
you might interpret ghostly goings on. Many paranormal researchers
would not guarantee success, and some residents might feel that this
approach takes the ghost so seriously that further strange phenomena
may be experienced because of the air of expectancy created. But, for
some of those living with a ghost, anything is worth a try if it means
a quiet life after death.
One woman who sees things rather differently is Maureen Leigh, who
offers a 'psychic house cleaning' service. In her opinion streams of
energy known as leys, criss-cross the planet and can convey positive
or negative overloads. At a crossover of a negative stream there can
be an explosion of seemingly supernatural events because the energy is
absorbed by the minds of those present, which can result in paranormal
events and physical illness. She attempts to diagnose such matters and
help reduce the strain on the affected household.
This is an interesting way to look at the question of ghosts and has
much in common with current thinking on environmental pollution
research. |
